My students attend a public school in inner city Louisville, KY. We are a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) magnet, with a heavy focus on using project-based learning to understand the world around us. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and benefit from engaging in real-world learning experiences to fully understand new topics in Science.
In order to engage students in real-world STEAM experiences, they need access to the Lego for Education WeDo Kits.
These kits will allow students to collaborate through inquiry and fully understand the engineering process and related science, art, and math concepts 4th grade students are required to master.
My 4th students are crazy about using their hands to learn more about how the world around them works. Finding relevant and engaging materials to bring the curriculum to life ensures that all students will connect. These kits will allow my students to collaborate as they learn more about “life, physical, earth, and space sciences, as well as engineering.” The Kits will be used as a supplement for students that have both mastered the grade-level content and those students who need a new way to think about abstract concepts. All lessons will be collaborative and STEM focused so students will be able to work together to solve problems and learn even more about the grade level concepts.
