The students at my school are from a rural, farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school, which are schools who have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.
My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.
We move around our classroom a lot at different times of the day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling while engaged in learning while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities. This particular project will get them moving, thinking, and stimulate their learning by creating!
My Project
My students love to use our LEGOs in our classroom! We need large Green Lego Base Plates to cover an area of our wall. The liquid nail glue will help attach these pieces securely for building. Plus, we can always use extra LEGOs to expand our building potential! These Lego blocks will help my students expand STEM thinking in my classroom by planning, designing, and building amazing creations!
By adding a LEGO Wall in my classroom my sweet kids will have a large space that they can build and design at all height levels.
They will not only be able to create designs on the floor, but they can add designs vertically. I am so excited about the possibilities this wall will open up in our classroom!
