Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a bilingual program where they learn in Spanish and English. Many of them are immigrants or come from immigrant families making it more meaningful to maintain their native language. They love coming to school and are eager to learn and work together. My students are very curious and enjoy asking questions and exploring new materials and ideas.

For many of my students, this is their first time in school, and they are excited about the new things they learn every day.

My Project

Upon returning from our winter break, we switched up the toys in our preschool classroom in order for students to remain excited and engaged through play. One of the "new" toys we introduced was a small box of LEGOS, and it was the instant favorite! Students love playing with the LEGO toys, but we don't have too many pieces and accessories, which is why we need your help!

While playing with LEGO toys, students practice teamwork and communication skills, as well as constructive problem solving skills.

These skills are so important to develop in the preschool years, in order to get them ready for Kindergarten and beyond. We will use our LEGO people and building parts in our block center, for small groups and free play time. We hope you are inspired to donate to our project for LEGO toys.
