This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
William Hall Academy is located in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Our school boarders Washington, D.C. Our student population consist of students who are primarily African American, Hispanic, and white. We are a 100% title one school serving students in grades pre-k through 8th. Our students are special because of the close family and community that rallies around all students. Our students face challenges that would break your heart but they come to school each day happy, smiling and ready to learn. We do our best to create a sense of normalcy.
The teachers and staff at William Hall Academy love our students and want the very best for them.
My Project
Kids and Adults love LEGOs. During this pandemic, more students are staying home to learn virtually. While we want our students to stay safe, we have seen a significant drop in school attendance as a result of distance learning.
The "Lego to School" project will encourage students to attend school in-person or virtually to earn points with the hopes of winning a Lego set to be put together at our end of the month attendance party.
Students will see a creative showcase that house expert Lego projects to start the challenge. We are so excited!
