This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are hungry for a way to incorporate their digital lives into being productive in real life. Many come from socioeconomic backgrounds that do not allow them the means to explore this area further. Even those parents that could afford the materials don't have the extra time in their days to truly teach about applications. I want to give my students a chance to build, create, and enjoy with guidance and structure. The skills learned here will also (hopefully) encourage them to follow their passions as they age and move on to middle and high school.
My Project
I am asking for this LEGO Mindstorm kit and expansion pack to allow my robotics students the opportunity to extended their problem solving and attend the 2018-2019 Lego robotics competition in the area.
These competitions emphasize not only robot construction and function, but also team work and perseverance.
At competition students are tasked with working together to accomplish goals in a time frame, as well as discussion their team goals, and possible solutions for real world issues.
The community and school I serve would not be able to afford these kits outright so I am asking for your help to enrich my students' minds
