My students are multi-sensory learners who require hands-on structured interventions utilizing all of their senses (see it, hear it, touch it!) to acquire foundational literacy, math, and social skills. I am new to the school, but not new to teaching (this is my 16th year). I am excited to begin the school year hands-on learning experiences and research-based interventions that will help my students close their achievement gap and become lifelong successful learners! Together, we can stock my Resource Room with these necessary learning tools. Thank you for supporting the needs of my students and in helping me provide them with the tools they deserve to be literate!
My Project
We work on social, emotional, character development, and collaboration skills daily in my Resource Room. My students need explicit, hands-on experiences to support this important work. They are between the ages of 5-9. Right now, there is a donor who will match all LEGO projects so this was the motivation behind this project.
These LEGO kits will supplement the lego table and legos that we already have.
There is an emotion lego set and a word people LEGO set that will go hand-in-hand with our daily social skills lessons. There are also specific lego sets that require problem-solving and collaboration (animal bingo, cafe+) that will require students to work together to build items to match a visual.
