My classroom is always filled with excitement and FUN for learning! When you walk in, there is always something exciting planned that is centered around our monthly themes or special guests. Students love the hands-on learning approach that is involved in almost every learning activity they do throughout the day. Children should leave each day with smiles on their faces and stories in their hearts!
I work in a small community with an amazing group of eighteen kindergarten students and their families.
I say families as well because I truly believe in educating the families as well as the students.
I want to ensure that each of my KinderGator students leaves their kindergarten year with many many memories, lots of learning experiences, and endless opportunities to succeed.
My Project
Planning, creating, building, bringing culture into the classroom, building community relationships, and learning through block play: Students will use gross motor skills and spatial awareness while developing creative thinking and language development as they build structures using the giant building blocks. Children express themselves creatively and artistically while constructing the wonderful ideas from their imaginations. Lego bricks automatically engage multiple children, inviting them to construct together, discuss ideas and negotiate roles. They use the bricks as a tool for thinking, communicating and developing an understanding and appreciation of each other's ideas and contributions.
Students will have the opportunity to become architects while building language, creativity and community relations while learning through block play.
Students will get to see first hand what an architect has to do to plan out their masterpieces. Students will be working together, independently, in groups to build and create structures of their own. These blocks will be a great tool during our daily dramatic play time.
