I am fortunate in my teaching career to provide a quality education to a diverse group of students. The majority of the students are Hispanic and African American.
We have a vast number of students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch; therefore, the entire district is given free lunch.
Our students are usually not given many extracurricular field trips or extension projects during the school year. However, the students come ready to learn, and STEM has proved to be one of their favorite subjects.
Our elementary school is in its second year as a STEM school. Additional LEGO products are greatly needed to allow students the flexibility needed to build, program, and fully operate LEGO educational robots. We need a WeDo 2.0 Core Set, two MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Expansion Set, and additional LEGO bricks
Robots are currently a success; however, more supplies would mean additional opportunities for students to participate and learn.
LEGO education utilizes several skills. I particularly love the math component. Students have to calculate the exact movement and desired outcome. Then they have an opportunity to see their program realized.
