My Students

My students are gifted and talented learners from two Title I schools who thrive on being challenged daily. I also serve some GT bilingual students, as well as twice exceptional students, whom I must constantly find visual and tactile activities to keep engaged.

I am always searching for new, creative, higher level thinking activities for my students that take them out of their comfort zones.

This past year we focused on project based learning with an integration of technology during every component. They also practiced some coding, which they loved! All of my students are incredibly appreciative and are always engaged during our GT pullout time, and they thrive during before and after school clubs.

My Project

Students will be able to build and program Lego robots in a small group setting. Once we earn funding for one kit, we can begin practicing during class. The ultimate goal is to buy several kits and begin a LEGO robotics club that will reach more students. Students will be able to work in small groups, collaborate, construct their robot, then ultimately program the robot to move how they choose.

LEGO robotics will appeal to students' need to "build and create", as well as their need for technology integration.

It will prepare our engineers and STEM students for their future.
