My Students

My class this year will consist of approximately twenty-five, grade one students. My students live in one of the most resource-challenged districts, in one of the richest states in the US. All of my students have the option to receive free lunch and breakfast. We are surrounded by some of the wealthiest towns in Connecticut, yet we struggle with large class sizes, enough basic supplies, and equitable access to technology. My students and their parents, expect that every day our students are receiving an education equal to those of students in surrounding towns. Our students come from all over the world and their parents would love the opportunity to share the joy of learning with their children. My students share the same thirst for knowledge and their eyes light up the same when they finally understand the concept being taught.

I want to students to have every opportunity to explore the full scope of their imaginations.

My Project

My students love to play with LEGO bricks. They can play for hours. LEGO generously donated boxes of bricks to our school last year.We are in need of LEGO figurines to enhance the play experience. My 1st graders make elaborate LEGOscapes and work together to create imaginary lands. They continue to work on sharing with others, being patient, trying and failing then trying again.

LEGO helps with all these social skills students need to be successful.

This project will increase their engagement and make them so happy to add figurines to this play time.
