Lego Our Imagination Sprout Through STEM!

Help me give my students their first opportunity to explore their knowledge and creativity through LEGO STEM MINDSTORMS Robotic set. Our students have little to no experience with hands-on robotics. This would change the way they think.

My Students

No question, many urban children face a lot of challenges in their young lives. The population of students come from low socioeconomic households, with little no technology or support.

My students have been identified as Gifted and they love working with technology.

However, the amount of technology we have access to is limited to none in the classroom. By using technology in the classroom, both teachers and students can develop skills essential for the 21st century. Students can gain the skills they will need to be successful in the future. Modern learning is about collaborating with others, solving complex problems, critical thinking, developing different forms of communication and leadership skills, and improving motivation and productivity.

What is more, technology can help develop many practical skills, including creating presentations, learning to differentiate reliable from unreliable sources on the Internet, maintaining proper online etiquette, and writing emails. These are very important skills that can be developed in the classroom.

My Project

Engineering is all over LEGO! Studies show that hands-on learning improves information retention, and teachers know that hands-on learning is key to engaging students in the classroom as well.

Building with LEGO can teach kids critical skills without them even realizing they are learning!

It can spark creativity, develop critical thinking skills, and explore basic STEM concepts! LEGO exposes students to basic science and engineering concepts, and an introduction to STEM at an early age helps students to develop the critical thinking skills needed to excel in STEM disciplines! There is always more than 1 solution to a problem, and exploring LEGO can demonstrate the ways to investigate a problem and find possible solutions!
