This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember how much fun you had as a child building with LEGOS? Think of how much you learned by trial and error as you tried to create the tallest building. Students today learn by doing, and my students are no exception. The difference is that my students do not have the same experiences at home that you had when you were young.
The students in my classroom come to school with a desire to learn.
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met.
My Project
LEGO® bricks are naturally engaging to elementary students. When they are introduced into the learning environment they boost motivation. Learning through creative design ignites children’s natural desire to explore and discover. Students will improve and develop their 21st-century skills like problem solving, collaboration and communication.
Abstract concepts will come to life with a fun, hands-on approach that really engages students.
LEGO bricks turn ideas into real models that can be touched, described, and innovated upon. And by making the subjects tangible, they foster collaboration and encourage self-guided learning by creating enthusiasm and giving students the tools they need to overcome challenges.
These kits will allow me to create an engaging and inspiring learning environment in key curriculum areas. The resources LEGO Education provides are designed to stimulate critical thinking and encourage creative problem solving skills across a variety of real-world themes.
