My Students

I teach fourth grade STEAM in a Title I school in Flushing, NY. For the majority of my students, English is their second language. Many are also living an impoverished life. There are many opportunities outside of school that are simply not available to them. Therefore, what I do with my time with them is crucial to their future success.

My students are a lovable bunch who are curious about the world around them and about how things work.

They are very proud of themselves when their projects are successful. STEAM education is a wonderful way to help them engage with their classmates, collaborate on projects, and find creative solutions to problems.

My Project

I am asking for a WeDo 2.0 LEGO Core Set. This beginner LEGO Robotics kit will lay the foundation for a deeper understanding of coding and engineering.

This project will provide my fourth grade students with a creative outlet that combines their love of LEGOS with their understanding of the engineering design process, the language of code, and the science content they need to succeed academically.

For example students can build rovers, helicopters, cars, windmills, various animals, and the list goes on and on. They can also create their own original projects and program their creation to move in different ways, light up, shake, and make sounds, just to name a few. The sky is the limit!

Please help me provide them with educational materials that will help them to become master coders!
