Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderfully diverse group of students. My students face many challenges. Some of these challenges include poverty and homelessness. Most of my students qualify for free or reduced price meal plans. Over half of my students are English Learners.
Despite the difficulties my kids face each day, they come to school eager to learn.
They work hard and try their best. They are my heroes, and I love being their teacher! Our staff is remarkable. We offer support to our students and their families before, during and after school hours. The dedication of every person working at our school is amazing. We truly care about our students and work tirelessly to help them achieve against some pretty heavy odds. We have created a caring and nurturing environment for the children we serve, and you can feel it throughout our campus.
My Project
My students all love to build and create with Lego's, especially my girls. They are becoming more and more imaginative with the simple Lego set my own children used which I brought from home.
This project will bring their creativity to the next level.
It will also reinforce our study of machines and inventions and basic engineering. My students need more exposure to hands on learning. Lego's encourage my students to innovate and work together. On rainy days it is the first thing they go to. This project will expand their experience and ignite their passion to create, cooperate and build together!
