Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students of our school are eager to learn, design, innovate, and create. Our school follows the constructivist theory that students learn by doing. We are classified as a school of technology and as a Showcase school. We've been recognized at the NYC DOE Tech Summit and in Parent's Guide for the Best Schools in NYC.
Throughout the school day, students are engaged in rich learning tasks on a daily basis throughout all subject areas.
Teachers provide multiple entry points and multiple means of representation to ensure student success.
My Project
My students are currently researching and participating in Lego Expos throughout New York City. We are expected to present our project at Google headquarters in March. In order to be a part of this expo, students need additional LEGOS and baseplates to further develop and construct their "Salmon Migration Solution."
Students have researched the Hydroelectric Energy and how this affects ecosystems.
Students found that salmon are especially disrupted by hydroelectric plants. Students then used LEGO parts to create a prototype as a visual representation of their problem and solution.
In addition, in order to organize all of their materials, students need a storage solution for all of these supplies.
