This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Can we build a bridge to the future with LEGOS? You bet we can!
My school has been identified as the lowest performing school in a large Connecticut city.
The students are from very impoverished homes. Our school has longer school days, and clubs during the day to expose students to a variety of activities they may not otherwise experience. We are in the process of becoming a recognized magnet school focusing on Media and Communications. The students are eager to learn and try new experiences. They struggle with the day to day academics but thrive in a hands-on setting.
My Project
Using robotics is an ideal resource to reinforce fundamental mathematics and the scientific process. It allows a hands on introduction to engineering, programming as well as promoting problem solving and teamwork. These are all needed skills for today's students and tomorrow's leaders.
Funding this project will allow my students to explore the possibilities for their future by participating in a robotics club.
They will tap into their strengths in science, technology, engineering and math. This will allow the students to work together towards a common goal and feel a sense of accomplishment. This project will provide students a glimpse in the world of robotics and the possibilities they can achieve.
