My Students

We are a medium-sized school with about 400 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Approximately 70% of our student body is receiving free or reduced-price lunches. We have a large Hispanic population with 15% of our students classified as English Learners.

I try to provide opportunities for our students to learn to collaborate and think critically.

We are a small coastal community, and many of our students never leave town, so I try to provide experiences for them that allow them to see the broader world picture.

My Project

My students need a creative way to learn. They will solve problems for math, science, and language by engaging in cooperative learning situations. I will pose a problem for the students to work together to figure out multiple solutions. They will learn from each other as they build partnerships in small group teams.

The LEGO Spike Prime set will give my students the tools they need to become coders and learn real-life skills while working with others.

My students will get the chance to discover that learning can be fun!
