Help me give my students a a left-handed guitar, a case to protect it, and some guitar picks for the rest of the club.
This project expired on February 4, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade middle school students in Honolulu, HI, who participate in an after school guitar club. They range in age from 11-14, and vary in ability from absolute beginners to intermediate levels.
My students love to play guitar and are eager to improve.
They fill my classroom almost every Monday and Friday from 215 to as late as 400. Their passion for the guitar is infectious and we have a few left handed players who are struggling to play right handed guitars.
The left-handed guitar will allow my left-handed guitar members an opportunity to play guitar naturally. It will play a direct and crucial role in the students' learning from the initial introduction to the instrument, learning to tune the guitar, learning the basic chords, chord progressions, and eventually learning riffs and scales. The students will use these skills to learn classic songs as well as their favorite songs.
The students will be challenged to learn as well as pushed to explore their musical creativity.
In addition to helping this year's club members, the guitar, case, and supplies will benefit students for years to come.
