The light table and manipulatives I am requesting are for my students who have a wide range of disabilities, from Autism and intellectual disabilities to learning and behavioral disabilities. My students are some of the most eager learners. They get so excited when manipulatives are pulled out to use for a lesson! We will use the new light table and manipulatives for everything from letters and numbers to writing and self-regulation. We will use the double-sided magnetic phonics tiles to learn new phonics and spelling patterns. After students have a new spelling skill introduced they will practice spelling words using the double-sided magnetic phonics tiles on the light table. We will use the light table math trays to practice sorting, patterning, and representing numbers during center activities.
Having multi-sensory opportunities is key, especially for students with disabilities.
Students love hands-on learning experiences, and the more senses that are engaged in the learning process the more likely they are to learn. The more ways a concept can be taught and practiced the higher the likelihood that the student will remember it.
I am so excited for my students to have new and engaging ways to learn!
