The students I teach are full of energy and full of stories. Many students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and have various life experiences. That doesn't hinder them from being hard-working, curious, and persistent learners.
My students come to me with varied interests and varied learning styles.
My job as their teacher is to always be on the lookout for new ideas to create experiences in the classroom that they will not soon forget. My students are not always easy, but they are so lovable and deserving of classroom innovation.
My Project
In any math classroom, working out problems is a must. I need students to show their work in order to monitor if they are understanding the concept. Our sixth grade students have math for an hour and half a day. That is a long time to only do worksheets. We play games, work on computers, and find hands on manipulative activities. Those are all fun and help stimulate the brain, but other times, I need to see them work out a problem.
Instead of working out all our answers on boring worksheets, we use dry erase markers to write and show work on our desks or on small white boards.
Using these markers daily really takes a toll on my marker supply. I would love to continue the taboo tradition of writing on our desks, but I will need your help. Buying markers for all my students is costly. I appreciate every penny donated to help continue making learning and practicing more fun than just pencil and paper.
