This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"If kids come to us from strong, healthy functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important." I read this quote once and it has stuck with me ever since. My students are sweet kindergarteners- many of whom come from low-income families. My students love learning with technology, they ask me all the time to get on computers and most days their first question is if I brought my iPad to school. On days I bring my personal iPad to school, I pick a special student who will get to play on it that day. Many of them don’t have iPads/tablets at home and I love seeing the excitement and joy in their faces when they get to learn on the iPad. I would love to be able to add several more iPads to our class to help facilitate their love of technology!

My Project

Technology is such a big part of our world and having technology like iPads in the classroom and other mobile devices can provide opportunities for students to be able to work and excel at their own level and pace. I like to use my iPad to help my struggling learners giving them something different and fun really helps them. There are many learning apps and games on the iPad that can help kindergartners. iPads are easier for kindergartners to use because some have a hard time manipulating a mouse. We use the I-station program in our classroom everyday and for some students it is easier for them to use on an iPad.
