Learning With Sensory Input

Help me give my students a Sensory Exploration Instant Learning Space, double-sided magnetic write wipe boards, a light table manipulative center, and some games to improve their literacy learning.

My Project

Please help me provide my students with opportunities to enhance their learning with extra learning modalities. We are a Title I-funded school with over 70% of our students coming from low income households. Many of the students are English language learners and need extra help in learning vocabulary words and letters, with some of them only having access to English at school. This project would help the students to learn in new ways that they otherwise wouldn't have access to.

My students will use the light table to explore letters and words by tracing which will help them more quickly learn the letters and words.

The white boards and letter magnets will allow them to form words with the magnets and write them on the white boards, another way to manipulate and work on forming sounds in words. I also want to use the games and tools to help them engage better with the academic learning and help them feel excited to read and learn.

At this age, kindergarten, the students learn through play and touching manipulatives. These items from Lakeshore would help them to accomplish this multi-sensory learning. The kids love to play through learning so this would accomplish that, especially with the sensory exploration instant learning space. This area would allow my kids to explore with their hands and tough materials like the tactile liquid letters while saying their name or sound. My kids respond very well to learning by doing and playing with materials while learning. These sensory materials would allow them to play while learning, which appeals highly to their developmental stage. Thank you so much for your kind, generous donations!
