My students need flexible seating options including, soft seats, wobble seats, comfy floor seats, and stability balls to keep them engaged in learning!
I work with students from a variety of backgrounds. They come to me full of energy and new and exciting ways to maintain their interest and attention are a must! My students are the youngest learners, entering school for the first time, so it is of utmost importance to set the tone for a love of lifelong learning!
Some of my students come to kindergarten with a wide range of worldly and academic experiences, while others have very few experiences outside of the home environment.
All my students love to learn, but sitting at a table or in the same place all day long is difficult for the typical 5-year old child. I am always looking for ways to improve their physical and emotional involvement in our classroom family.
My Project
With the changing demands of our curriculum and student needs, my classroom environment does not hold the tools I need to meet the needs of my diverse learners. Students fidget and can become easily distracted. My students will be able to move the seats around the classroom to various learning areas where they can maintain focus and sit comfortably while reading, writing, listening, and working on math activities.
Flexible seating allows students to choose a work spot that helps them do their best work.
Offering students a choice of sitting comfortably low to the ground in a soft seat, higher up on a stability ball, wobble chair, or regular chair, or even standing will help make our classroom community more comfortable, safe and successful!
My students will have more choice and ownership in their learning, resulting in fully engaged kindergartners! The new tools will help my students explore in ways that suit their personal learning styles! Who wouldn't look forward to different options and get excited about learning?
