Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students that I am so fortunate to work with are amazing third graders who all come from our poverty-stricken community. They need as much motivation as they can get.
Many of my students experience so much trauma that they do not like coming to school.
They come from families that do not have the resources or the ability to help them academically or financially. We want to create a positive atmosphere for them where we can celebrate their successes.
Many of them have learning disabilities and struggle with language acquisition, speech impairments and/or emotional disabilities. Their life experiences have left them reading way below grade level, struggling to express themselves, often resorting to violent outbursts and lacking the basics that many take for granted.
My Project
Ozobots are great for teaching the students how to develop their higher thinking skills in a fun way. The students will also develop computer science and STEM skills as they are programming their Ozobot.
Ozobots and their supplies will allow students to let their natural curiosity lead them into creating projects beyond their imagination!
Students can use Ozobots supplies to create stories, games, solve math problems, and much more! The possibilities are endless!
My students will benefit from having Ozobots as it will help them develop problem solving skills while staying engaged. Ozobots will give my students the hands on experiences to help them learn about robotics and programming.
