Help me give my students hands-on materials and activities that will help support their learning with a Color-Changing Light Center and a Light Table Manipulative Center!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students have proven in the past years that they are resilient and hard-working learners. We have seen our students go through many changes and hardships at school, home, and throughout their community, but that has not stopped them from continuing to learn and grow with us.
Though our school is diverse and we have many different cultures represented, many of our students are students of color from a low socioeconomic community.
I want our students to feel safe, loved, and comfortable with us and I am working hard on building a classroom just for them!
My Project
For many of my students, this year is their first time being in a classroom due to Covid. Previous to this most students have either had to learn at home through the computer or did not have satisfactory learning experiences for various reasons. We want to make up for this and give our students a Kindergarten experience they won't forget!
Many students' favorite experiences in Kindergarten are when they are able to use their hands to manipulate items which students can do with items such as a light table or sensory bin!
Research has shown that students of all ages are able to learn and understand concepts better when they are doing a hands-on activity. I want to support my students as much as I can to set them up for future academic success!
