In our classroom, we love to use technology to practice teamwork, problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills. My students were exposed to Osmo Kits and fell in love! They were able to practice the important second grade skills of word study, structuring numbers, geometry, and counting money by manipulating letter tiles, number tiles, tangrams, and dice. Their excitement and engagement for learning was absolutely infectious.
My second graders are a diverse group of children with a common love of learning.
We love to learn, read, and be engaged in all content areas. My students arrive daily from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. It is so important to me that the children entrusted in my care receive high quality and engaging instruction throughout the day.
My Project
I feel so fortunate that donors recently supported the purchase of two Osmo kits for our class. If we are fortunate to receive an additional Osmo kit, each of my students will have the opportunity to use Osmo several times each week to practice spelling words, addition and subtraction skills, geometry skills, numbers, or counting money in our classroom. My students will be able to practice each of these skills in a hands-on and engaging environment.
Through the use of Osmos, students are actively engaged while practicing crucial second grade skills.
We have a school set of four Osmo kits and they are always in demand. When we are able to access one or two of our school Osmo kits to add to our classroom set, students are beyond excited. They are able to independently take ownership of their learning while using Osmo in our classroom. The purchase of an additional Osmo kit for our classroom will help us to reach our class goal.
