My kindergartners are a group of sweet, funny, curious and incredibly excited learners.
Many of my students live in low income housing in the neighborhoods surrounding our Title 1 School.
Some of my students are English Language Learners who speak several languages at home. Many of my students have limited academic and technology opportunities at home.
My Project
Literacy and math workshops are my students very favorite times of day. They look forward to engaging activities that challenge them to grow as readers, writers and mathematicians. Using these 2 Osmo gaming system in our classroom will dramatically increase the learning of my students. During literacy and math workshops, the children rotate through work stations, focusing on a math and/or literacy skill. I would be able to use the Osmo and educational apps I obtain for various activities, counting, numeral recognition, identifying letters and sounds, and many pre-reading skills, such as phonics and sight word recognition. The Osmo would also be utilized as interventions for students who are struggling academically.
I believe my job as a teacher is not only to prepare my students to succeed in class, but most importantly to succeed in the world that awaits them when they graduate.
Technology plays a huge part in the work force and will only continue to do so. I need to provide them with opportunities to use technology in my classroom so they can be prepared for the future. I believe the Osmo would allow me to provide for more creative thinking opportunities and to help my students grow.
