My class of six and seven year-olds come to school to have a safe and inviting environment where they know they will be loved. Because of the students' socioeconomic status, they don't always have the opportunity to use engaging tools that increases their motivation to learn. We are a Title I school. I want to bring technology with driven and engaging ways to learn in the classroom to make learning fun and exciting each and every day.
I want my students to learn in an environment that they feel most comfortable.
My goal of teaching is to find tools and ways to increase that love of learning and for my students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to incorporate movement into our learning. I am requesting a parachute for the class to use outside during our social emotional learning time. Students will flip the parachute up, get under and pull down. We will use this time to discuss feelings and behaviors that are effecting our social emotional learning.
I am requesting the skip balls to add movement to our traditional skip counting practice.
Each student will jump over the ball as they skip count by 10's, 5's and 2's. The bean bags will be used on our outdoor painted charts, which will allow students to practice counting, spelling and addition or subtraction.
Studies show that students retain more of what they are taught by doing.
