Learning With Little Hands

Hooray! This project is fully funded

This is my second year teaching Kindergarten in the NW area. This year I have been awarded the challenge of teaching 23 diverse and energetic 5-year-olds. They definetly try my patience and keep me on my toes. At the end of the day, it is all worth it if I am able to see one of them learn something new. I am asking for play dough and materials to use with the play dough. This would include 6 (3 lb.) tubs of different colored play dough, alphabet clay cutters, and number clay cutters. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but it is amazing how much little things like play dough mean to young children. The students would use it at our Art Center during choice time, as well as some days during our Reading Block. This would be extremely benefical to my students in a number of ways and across a number of curriculums: Reading/Writing: the students could spell out their names, classmate names, or our high-frequency words. Science: the students could explore different materials, textures, and colors. Kinesthetic Learners: it is great for hands-on learning, as well as, building fine motor skills. Thanks for taking the time to read this proposal. My students and I would greatly appreciate any help that you might give. We look forward to exploring and creating using the new materials.
