Learning With Letterland-Developing a Love of the Alphabet!
My students need these high interest alphabet materials to build on their excitement for reading. The Picture Code Cards will give us a fun way to practice the alphabet and develop phonics skills!
I am so excited to welcome new kindergarten and first grade students to my program. The students that I work with are usually from low socioeconomic backgrounds and have not had the same experiences as their more well-to-do peers. The kindergartners come to my reading support class with limited to no exposure to the alphabet, and many of them cannot even write their name. The first graders that I work with are still missing the basic reading skills that are essential to their future success.
My students are children, and they want to play!
They are exuberant! They smile and laugh (and yes have trouble sitting still). They love hands-on learning, bright colors, and their passionate teacher.
My Project
These Letterland materials will excite my students. The Picture Code Cards are kid-friendly, bringing the alphabet to life. I will read aloud the ABC book to introduce my students to the Letterland characters. We will then use the Picture Code Cards to get up and moving around as we practice letter sounds and making words. The alphabet frieze will brighten up our classroom while keeping the Letterland characters and their sounds at the forefront of our minds.
Letterland provides students with a chance to be children, playing and learning simultaneously.
