I work in a Title I school where one hundred percent of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. The children reside in middle to lower class families. My children come from homes where many families speak languages other than English. Many of the children in my class go to before and after care. Some are in daycare at six in the morning and remain there until seven in the evening. My children look for a home away from home when they enter my room.
Many of my children come from single-parent homes.
They enter my classroom looking for love and attention. These children become my own during our school day. I offer them a place of comfort, security, nurturing, creativity, and learning. The look on their faces as they learn letters and sounds, write their names or paint beautiful pictures of the world as they see it, is just amazing!
My Project
Sharing, discussing your building strategy and assigning roles is an important part of the process of a LEGO build. It can even help to increase language development.
The ability to plan, organize, and then execute are all critical skills that can be applied to any goal-orientated actions in life.
With LEGOs children are always on the go, thinking, and implementing. Playing with LEGOs Increases spatial awareness and allows for better focus and concentration.
It is a great tool for constructive problem solving and lateral thinking. Children are exposed to adventure and experimentation.
Playing with LEGOs is also a great way to build fine motor skills development.
