My Students

Our school is located in a small, rural community in Central Florida. The majority of our students come from low income homes, with almost three quarters of students qualifying for free or reduced price meals.

Engaging our students in creative, hands on activities which would include project based learning, provides them real world opportunities to develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

These kinds of activities reinforce our school's expectations for student behavior (PAWS)--Positive Attitude, Act Responsibly, Work as a Team, Show Respect.

My Project

Adding computers to our Media Center will help my students learn much-needed skills for success. While there is a computer lab attached to our Media Center, it is scheduled for use by classroom teachers throughout each day.

During this time of distance learning, I have realized how much simpler the roll-out of digital lessons would have been had my students been able to learn how to use digital applications while schools were still open.

Although I am starting with one computer at a time, I hope to add at least a dozen over the next year.
