Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of amazingly smart and inquisitive first graders. In first grade, students learn the foundational skills they need to help them be successful throughout their educational career. We have a diverse community of students with a high number of English Language Learners.
As with many California districts, our school is facing budget cuts making it difficult to provide these students with the supplemental supplies they deserve.
Any donation truly changes this classroom and provides a deep and enriching school experience.
My Project
My students sometimes experience a learning slide over holiday breaks. February is a critical month of learning and development for first graders, and a two week gap can cause a halt in this learning. I want to send home books and tools that will keep them learning over our spring break.
My goal is to provide students with meaningful, high-interest literature and activities that will keep the learning going over winter break and engage families in learning at home.
The rulers and number lines will be used complete math work at home.
In the workbooks, they can review what we have learned thus far in first grade. The books will be for the students to read over break. Everything will go in the gift bags to make it extra special!
