Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from many different background and speak many different languages. Many of my students are from low income families and have had no prior school experience. All of my 24 students are eager to learn and to be engaged within the classroom. I love teaching kindergarten and watching the amount of growth in each one of my students. When a child realizes they can write and can read, it makes everything worth it. It is something that will last them a lifetime.
My Project
Mt kindergarten students love to create and explore new topics through creativity. Art projects provide an engaging way for students to show what they have learned and bring that topic to life.
Through art, they are able to create a concrete item to share about their new knowledge and to teach others.
We use art to create apples in science, a character from a story in reading, and a poinsettia in social studies as we explore traditions around the world.
Art creates meaning for many of my students and strengthens their understanding of a lesson.
My project is asking for materials to help make these art activities possible. We need paper to create, oil pastels to color, eyes to make our characters come to life, and paper fasteners to create moving pieces.
