I teach science and social studies to an awesome group of caring, creative, and enthusiastic fifth graders, who want to make the world a better place.
Our school receives 100% funding for free breakfast and lunch for all students. My students have a wide range of ability levels, backgrounds, and interests, and they simply cannot all learn in the same way! Technology provides an amazing opportunity for differentiation in the classroom and gives all students the opportunity to be successful.
Many of my students face challenges outside of school, and I want to do all I can to make them feel loved and valued inside my classroom. These students are very collaborative and enjoy opportunities to learn, work, and create with their peers. They have amazing imaginations! Providing more opportunities for collaboration, creative expression, and the ability to share their knowledge will greatly benefit my students!
My Project
My students want to make a difference in the world! They are always shocked to find out why so many animals are dying and in danger of becoming extinct. They want to do something about it! Human actions are a leading cause of the decline of a species- pollution and habitat loss are responsible for many animal deaths. Conservation is one way to help protect wildlife and our planet.
Adding a touch-screen Chromebook to our classroom will provide a variety of learning opportunities for my students and enhance our environmental science curriculum to make it more engaging and interactive, so all of my students can succeed!
They’ll be able to perform research to learn more about the negative effects humans are having on the Earth, and they can also learn the benefits of conservation and how people and companies, like Tom's of Maine, are doing their part to save our resources. We want to join their efforts! Students will have opportunities to share what they’ve learned about pollution with other students by using Google apps, such as Google Slides and Google Drawings. By using a Chromebook, we will also be saving natural resources by cutting down our use of paper! With your help, I will be able to empower my students to protect the Earth!
