Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of 10-14 Kindergarten, First grade, and Second grade students that need more assistance to be successful in their academics and everyday life. They are children with learning difficulties, attention deficits, and lack of social and emotional skills.
Our school is a low income/high poverty area in our district.
We have almost 800 students with over 100 in Special Education. We are a Title 1 school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students come with wiggles and not a lot of positive social skills but they all need the same thing, attention and tools to help them learn.
My Project
Each item on our list is important to our classroom environment. I am trying to make areas in our classroom that help each student in different areas in where they struggle. The wobble chair and stool are different seating that will help my students choose the best way they can learn by sitting and concentrating on the instructor. The chairs help students that struggle with keeping on task due to needing to get up and move.
By donating to our project, you can help my students focus on their learning and not so much on controlling their bodies to be able to concentrate.
One of the ways that my students learn the best is by hands-on activities. The magnetic Alphabet letters include letters that you take pieces and build the different letters. My students struggle with formation and identifying the names of the letters. These magnetic letters will become part of our daily practice to make learning more enjoyable.
The OSMO transforms your iPad into a hands-on tool to make learning exciting! I am trying to incorporate more hands on learning and technology in our classroom. I would love to have at least 1-2 in our classroom to use and be able to share what we are doing with other teachers.
With the donations of these items, I look forward to seeing more improvement on the students' goals!
