My students need alternate seating options and Bouncy Bands to increase focus.

"THANK YOU!" That's the best thing a teacher can hear from a student or parent. And I have heard that phrase many times from the families at our school. Our school is a small school, serving pre-kindergarten to 5th-grade students. The school continues to grow each year because our students and their families are committed to our school and want to see it thrive. They are happy to be there.
Our school's positive culture is often praised by teachers, parents, and community members alike.
Being an urban school presents unique challenges, and it is the positive behavior and attitudes of the students and their families that allow us to overcome these challenges.
The teachers at our school are committed to their students, often spending their own time and money to make things extra special, including everything from starting a soccer team to buying books as rewards. The teachers work as a team, striving to increase student achievement and to prepare our students for middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
My classroom is very crowded. More than 30 students plus desks plus chairs makes for a squished up learning environment. Some students learn best at their desk. Some students are struggling. Having alternate places to sit and more room to move will give some students the option that they need to focus and learn best. Do you always do your work at your desk? I know I don't. Sometimes it helps to move to a different space. It can improve focus, creativity, give you a different perspective, or allow some room to move around. By giving my students options, I am empowering them to take control of their own learning and answer the question for themselves: Where do you learn best?
