My Students

My students are energetic, funny, curious 5th graders from the South Bronx. They are resourceful, inspiring and creative and able to “make it work” with the limited resources/supplies they have. Their love of learning makes me smile and love teaching!

My Project

The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what strategies they are using, help me quickly assess them as well as provide a place for them to show and share their work. Usually, my students would share the whiteboards, but with the new COVID-19 safety requirements, this is no longer an option. So the students need to have their own whiteboards and markers to use.

The Post-Its allow them to share ideas from a safe distance.
