This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My amazing students come to school eager to learn and ready and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can to be successful one day. As a teacher at a Title One school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide an engaging student-centered classroom experience that encourages learning and keeps my students relaxed.

My Project

I use our classroom rug a lot for whole group instruction. My students have lessons and share work they have done daily on the rug. I struggle to fit ever student on the rug. Some of my students have to sit at their seat during instruction because there just isn't enough room for all of my students to sit. I get complaints from my students weekly about how there is just not enough room on the rug. A bigger rug would encourage a positive classroom environment. We would all get to sit comfortably in the same place to easily share their ideas during cooperative learning times.
