My students come from a range of backgrounds and are academically at very different places. My fifth grade class consists of gifted students, ESOL students, and special education students. I teach at an International Baccalaureate school where we promote international mindedness. We want our students to be caring, respectful, and open-minded. We want our students to guide their own learning by asking questions and researching to find the answers to those questions. Our students learn to reflect on their work and learning. We also want to encourage our students to use technology.
My Project
These games will provide students the opportunity to practice thinking skills while learning to work with others. These games promote cooperative learning while learning STEM skills, spelling skills, and memory skills.
My students need these games to build a classroom community and learn to respect others while they inquire about what they are learning.
Students will learn about volume while constructing the Gravity Maze. Students will learn math skills when using the Osmo. Students will also gain spelling and writing skills playing Boggle. In addition, students will build critical thinking skills playing Distraction.
All of these activities will promote deeper thinking skills and encourage students to work cooperatively.
