Learning Together: Creating a Learning Commons for Student Collaboration

My Students

Students who come to the library are explorers who want to know how to make the world around them a better place. They are inquirers who are curious as to how something works or why something exists. They are researchers who investigate answers to the questions that provoke their curiosity. They are preservers in trying to solve some of the difficult problems that arise in their daily lives.

We are here to serve our students who are becoming independent thinkers in an ever-changing world.

And we want to provide the best services for them to pursue their goals.

My Project

We are looking to create an extension of the school library in an old study hall room that will be designated for students from Blended, Dual Credit and Unassigned Study Hall courses to come work together in a group collaboration setting.

The most immediate need for this space is flexible seating in order for students to feel comfortable to share ideas and problem solve with their peers.

We are looking to purchase sofas, foldable tables, chairs and ottomans that can be moved to suit what is needed to occur in the space. Once these items are purchased, they will be used in the area to allow students to start meeting for group projects and collaborating on their ideas that will be used to begin service programs within their surrounding community.
