Learning Together As We Gather Around the Easel!

My students need an easily accessible and multi-functional easel to gather around during our classroom meetings and to support and guide our learning.

My Students

I am so blessed to work with the students in our school. We are a pre-k through 3rd grade school with approximately 500 students. Our school has a high free and reduced lunch population. We also have a high ELL population with many students speaking Spanish as their first language. Our students are very bright and eager to learn. They want to please their teachers and their families. Kindergarten is such an exciting year because students learn so much during this year. Students enter kindergarten at many different levels-both academically and socially. When a child masters a new skill, the excitement that you see as his/her face lights up is priceless. That "Ah-ha" moment is what makes being a Kindergarten teacher awesome!

My Project

My goal is to build a classroom that is rich in collaboration and community. From day one, we come together and grow as a school family. A Primary Teaching Easel, will give our classroom meetings focus. From beginning our day with a morning message, to interactive writings, shared readings, and math talks, this new easel will allow our school family the opportunity to engage and grow together as we conquer new and challenging academic content and standards. The Primary Teaching Easel is mobile and has many functions allowing us to hang chart paper, pocket charts, and felt boards that bring nursery rhymes to life. This will be more than a space for me to write and share information. My students will also be able to share their ideas. This new easel will give us the opportunity to collaborate and grow together.

This project will have a lasting impact on my students and future students.

This easel will be a wonderful addition to our classroom meeting. It will provide opportunities for differentiated and individualized learning. When we gather together at the easel, lessons and learning tasks will be engaging and student centered. As we grow, both academically and socially, this easel will provide opportunities for students to become leaders in our school family.
