This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nothing causes a student's eyes to sparkle like hands-on science. Whether examining a flower or holding a snake for the first time, seeing the world in real life has a way of causing students' imaginations to go into overdrive.

Even though our students are primarily from low-income homes in the poorer areas of central Phoenix, Arizona, they still have dreams.

They dream of becoming firemen, doctors, nurses, and even marine biologists.

They love to learn. They are curious about faraway places and the animals, plants, and strange insects that live there. It is this desire to investigate that will carry them into the future.

My Project

Fast, accurate, keyboard typing is still a very useful skill, and a tremendous tool for securing a good paying job. Learning to "touch type" without looking is the key.

Most of our students do not have laptops or PC computers in their homes.

The only exposure to a keyboard to practice touch typing is the time they have in the computer lab. Most students do not know how to type correctly and use the "hunt and peck" method or just one finger.

These keyboard SpeedSkins will help our students learn to type correctly without looking at the keys using only muscle memory. This will help them not only in high school and college but in their future occupations as well.
