My Students
Our school is one of only five elementary schools in our entire county. We are a Title I school and most of our children live in poverty. We live in a very rural community, several miles from the nearest gas stations and grocery stores.
We live in a close-knit community. As teachers, we know most of the children who come into our classrooms. We know most of their families from before their children and grandchildren ever enter our door. We strive to help each child be the best they can be! We are a family.
My Project
The math games and manipulatives requested here will provide my students with fun ways to learn how to subitize, add and subtract. It is difficult to find games that are age appropriate enough that Kindergarteners can work on them independently.
I want to make learning FUN! Using games and manipulatives to teach math is a great way to get students involved in learning without them thinking that they are doing work. The more fun it is, the more likely they are to learn it and remember it. I want them to enjoy the time that they spend doing addition and subtraction!
