My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and ready to learn! I teach at a public charter school in Chula Vista, California. Many of my students choose to come to our school because traditional public school has left them behind. Our program personalizes learning so students are able to have voice and choice in my classroom. Many of my students are artistic hands-on learners who thrive when they are able to interact with their learning. They are an incredible group of students, and I am so lucky to get to watch them learn and grow in my classroom every day!
My Project
All of my students come to kindergarten excited about learning how to read, but it is impossible for my kindergarteners to learn how to read if there are limited books in their classroom library. I have worked hard to create an inviting classroom library that my students can truly enjoy. By having a variety of books at their just right reading levels, students will be able to choose independent reading books that really interest them. Some of the books in this project will be used for highly engaging read alouds. I strive to read at least one, if not two books aloud to my students each day. This has allowed me to share and pass on my love of reading to my students. With this project I hope to continue to enrich my kindergarteners' experiences with reading.
