Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher of a third grade class in an underserved area. I teach reading and social studies, and the classroom has very little supplies for the children.
I am hoping to help give these children equipment and materials that will help further encourage their learning and give them a space they will enjoy!
On average, my students are well below the state average for reading. They need much more than a textbook. The skill of reading isn't attained unless practiced.
My Project
In today's world, technology is extremely incorporated into our everyday lives, and has become a big part of education. There has been development of numerous educational apps available that serve as an adjunct in the classroom.
I am hoping to help incorporate the use of technology to help with teaching my students the fundamentals of reading with some of these tools.
These Fire tablets will help serve as a tool at a reading station with the use of the Osmo software, headphones and other reading apps. I have seen these apps used for children with great success in teaching them how to read and reinforcing material.
