My Students

My first grade students are developing tadpoles (pre-readers), developing in to mature frogs (readers). My students need the LeapFrog Tag Reader books to help keep them developing and progressing in reading.

I teach 25 enthusiastic students in a small school in rural Northern California.

Our class is large, but I have very eager students who love to learn. With such motivated students, it is so much fun to add technology and other fun programs to supplement our curriculum. They appreciate having new and innovative methods to help them learn.

My Project

My students need four LeapFrog Tag Reader book sets to practice reading skills. Tag Readers have a dual function. Students can read the stories that come with the set. They can use the wands that come with the reader pack to listen to the pronunciation of tricky words. These books will be used with my struggling readers to help them become more engaged in reading. These books will be used to engage these struggling students so they can read the same popular literature like Olivia, Fancy Nancy and I Spy that the rest of the class is reading.

By funding this project for LeapFrog Tag Reader books, you'll be giving the gift of reading to my struggling readers.

First grade is where students develop into fluent readers and those that struggle get turned off of reading. I would like to keep all my student turned on by providing them materials that will keep them engaged. These Tag Readers will do just that.
