Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Kindergarten and First Grade multi-grade classroom in Newark, CA. This class of eager learners have shown their enthusiasm for learning by achieving a 97% (or higher) attendance rate for the first two months of distance learning this year. Our class' biggest goal this year is to learn to read!
My Project
One important need for my students is having access to physical books. Being able to hold a book helps students learn about directionality and other print concepts. It also gives families tangible learning materials to use together.
In this time of distance learning, ensuring that students have the proper tools to learn at home has been difficult.
Not only do my students need to learn skills such as book-handling, they also have to navigate online programs in order to learn. Nearpod has a rich library of user-friendly educational videos that have made students more eager to learn.. Having a subscription would help students have more interactive content to aid in their learning.
Partnering with and providing learning tools for families has been so important for at-home learning. Thank you for supporting our students and families!
