My students need tools for literacy. Leveled readers are some of the most important books a student will ever read. These books are thoughtfully written to create a strong reading foundation.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in kindergarten, and for many, it's their first time in school, so they are still learning socio-emotional skills, others are learning to speak in English for the first time. Others experienced trauma or loss from Hurricane Harvey. This year has definitely been an interesting one!
Every one of my students is fighting a battle.
They are strong and resilient kids, and deserve to find a way to make their dreams come true. My students are sweet, smart, and deserve a chance. For my students, going to school has always been a treat. All of my students look forward to it because their classroom is bright, colorful, neat, and organized. This is the highlight of their day. Many go home to poor conditions and unsatisfactory living arrangements. The love and support my students get here in my classroom and in this school will be the most important they get in their lives.
My Project
As a teacher, I was moved in the middle of the school year to teach at a school very low on teachers, and very high in enrollment. I went from teaching second graders to kinder, pretty much overnight.
I am doing my best for my students but I know these tools will make learning to read that much easier for them.
Right now, I do not have leveled readers in my classroom. It's not always easy to find the right book.
With these leveled readers and sight word books, I will be able to match the resource to the child quickly and effectively, improving the amount of impact I will have on each students' progress.
