My students need alphabet and word family books including hands-on Language Arts manipulatives, like alphabet books, digital timers, and sentence strips.
My Kindergarten class is nicknamed, "My Kinders." They enjoy coming to school each day to learn and play with their classmates. I love this age group for their desire to learn, curiosity, and innocence.
This class is an active group with a wide variety of needs.
Out of the 23 students, 4 students have identified special needs and 13 students are struggling academically in the area of language arts. Many of these students also receive instruction for speech and occupational therapy.
When they walk into our classroom I focus on their potential and meet them where they are academically and socially. I may not be able to control their home environment, however, I can provide a safe, loving, and literature rich classroom. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Literature rich materials such as alphabet and word family books will help develop students reading skills. Many students in my class struggle to learn the letter names and sounds of the alphabet. Hands on manipulatives will encourage students to participate and be in control of their learning.
I want to provide engaging language arts opportunities that will promote creativity and excitement for all academic levels of students.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our Kindergarten classroom by building stronger reading and writing skills. This will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel success at an early age!
